SIRS Early Career Award 2024.
By winning one of this year’s Ealy Career Awards he receives this outstanding recognition for his recent research on uses and benefits of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and free-viewing eye-tracking for early screening and intervention in patients with psychotic disorders and those at clinical high risk of developing a psychotic disorder. Specifically, his submission entitled “Visual Perceptual Disturbances in Psychosis in Real, Augmented, and Virtual Environments: A Systematic Review and Experimental Data” aims at highlighting the visual alterations that patients with psychosis experience.
While this is an individual award to Dr. Franzen, he points out that the entire research team including his doctoral student Chaya Chromik deserves tremendous credit for this achievement. Such a complex and ambitous project would not be possible without an interdisciplinary team of psychiatrist, psychologists, and neuroscientists.
The award program is intended to sponsor individuals who have demonstrated professional and scientific interest in the field of schizophrenia research through their research, teaching or clinical activities.
