Visiting researcher from West China Hospital, Sichuan University, joins Translational Psychiatry Group

Dr. Naici Liu, Assistant Professor from the Department of Radiology at West China Hospital of Sichuan University (Chengdu, China), has joined the research group of Prof. Dr. Stefan Borgwardt for a six-month visiting fellowship starting September 2026.

During her stay, Dr. Liu will work on “Metabolic and Immune Alterations in Psychosis: From Peripheral Dysregulation to MRI-based Brain Biomarkers and Translational Perspectives.” The project investigates how peripheral metabolic and immune dysregulation relates to MRI-measurable brain changes in psychotic disorders, with the goal of identifying translatable biomarkers for early diagnosis and treatment monitoring. This topic aligns closely with the group’s research focus on neuroinflammatory and metabolic mechanisms in psychiatric disorders.

West China Hospital of Sichuan University is one of China’s largest and most prestigious medical centers. Its Department of Radiology, founded in 1924, is a National Key Discipline consistently ranked first in China, with particular strengths in psychiatric imaging and multimodal neuroimaging.

The visit is expected to foster ongoing collaboration between the two institutions in computational psychiatry and neuroimaging.
